During the Christmas season, I was excited imagining getting all my presents. I guessed that happiness is about getting all the material things. It's because that made me feel happy. Come to think of it, Happiness is desired by many people. Which my younger self didn't understand. I was too naive to know how reality works. Growing up, people say that you will miss the “good old days”. Which I could pretty much relate to now.
As a kid, I loved to collect things. For example, I was pleased whenever I got my favorite toy collection. I wasn't selfish, but the moment I got them, It felt like I was achieving something more than anyone else. Perhaps I was lonely, but it also satisfied me when I caught my friend’s attention from it. But I realized that others were just temporary happiness. Or should I call them now just an "Excitement"?

A Teddy bear or Letter, Getting presents is awesome. I appreciate pretty much everything because of the effort and that they have considered me for once. However, I wouldn't call them a "treasure". It's because I do not value things. If it's from someone special, It could be done more especially. What I meant by this is that not all "presents" are just about exchanging material things. It could also be giving a memorable time to someone.
For example, My friend could call me at 9 pm to stargazing together on my birthday. Not only this will surprise me and makes me feel wanted but also this will make our connection more heartfelt. Besides, when you give someone a memory, it lasts forever in mind. And it's great that I can revive this memory anytime. So I think that being in someone's mind is truly special.

And without our memory, we wouldn't be the same person we became in our present. Thus, It also holds everything in our lives like important knowledge, emotions including life experiences with people. So I would rather say that I treasure the golden moments I've shared with someone and not the material things.
Therefore, Excitement differs from Happiness. It's the state of being excited momentary and does not stay permanent. You will get excited imagining about meeting your childhood friend, but that excitement doesn't remain forever after you met her. The reason you are happy is because of the moments you've reunited with the person.

So, I would say that Happiness comes from beautiful memories. We previously once became a part of one soul's memory. So we do have a memory of them as well. We sometimes randomly think of them and cherishes what we can still remember. And the people we have in our past influenced today's version of us. Every little part of life that made us now became better to feel fulfilled is real happiness.
Some people say that happiness is a state of mind, What do you think about it?
